I use a variety of tools to help in your reorganization process including Brainspotting, focused mindfulness, deep reflection, parts work, journaling, and more! All of these tools are working to help you access and release stored experiences from the body, process emotions, and reframe your thought processes from a place of empowerment and self-compassion.
No doubt about it, your past experiences shape who you are today, but they don't have to define you, or affect your future. Reorganizing and Reauthoring allows us to take control of the narrative and create a new, empowered story for yourself.
Understanding the Impact of Past Experiences
Your brain is a complex and adaptable organ that is constantly changing and rewiring itself based on your experiences. Every experience you have, whether positive or negative, creates neural pathways in your brain (in fact, we have over 20 QUADRILLION of these pathways in one single brain!!). These neural pathways are like highways that allow information to flow between different regions of your brain, forming connections and shaping your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Past experiences can leave imprints on your brain, shaping your perceptions, beliefs, and responses to future events. For example, repeated negative experiences can create neural pathways associated with stress, anxiety, or fear, which can influence how you perceive and respond to similar situations in the future. On the other hand, positive experiences can create neural pathways associated with joy, gratitude, or resilience, which can enhance your well-being and influence your outlook on life.
The exciting part is that your brain has the remarkable ability to rewire itself through a process known as neuroplasticity. This means that you can create new neural pathways and modify existing ones through new experiences and intentional practices. You can literally change the structure and function of your brain.
The Role of the Body
Our bodies are not separate from our minds when it comes to our experiences. New research PROVES that cells in our body have their own memory cells!! Experiences can get stored in our bodies as physical sensations, tension, or discomfort. This somatic or body-based memory can impact our emotional and mental health, as well as our overall physical well-being. Addressing these somatic aspects is crucial to the process of healing and moving forward.
The Reorganization
In space holding sessions, you are taking a proactive and empowering approach to your life's narrative. This involves recognizing the impact of past experiences, understanding how your body holds on to them, and then actively works towards reshaping your story in a way that aligns with your values and goals. We are literally rewiring brain neurons in our work together!
