What is Brainspotting?

Because your neocortex might be interested...

Brainspotting is a tool that taps into our brain's natural ability to process and heal emotional wounds. Developed by Dr. David Grand, an EMDR therapist, it's a gentle yet powerful method that helps you access and process unresolved emotions and memories stored in specific areas of your brain. Brainspotting is non-invasive and doesn't require you to relive traumatic events. Heck, you don't even have to tell me what the events you are processing are!

So How Does Brainspotting Work?

Through eye positions and focused mindfulness, Brainspotting allows you to access and process the root of emotional distress or trauma in a supportive space  with me. I help and guide you in finding your unique "brainspots" - eye positions that correlate with the emotional or physical sensations you're experiencing. To find the brainspot and support your processing, I might use: my own intuition, my trusted pointer, bilateral music, aromatherapy, your own insight. We work together to find the spot, release, and integrate the emotional charge associated with those experiences, leading to deep healing and  a resolution that you have to experience to believe.

What I've Witnessed the Benefits of Brainspotting to be:

• Heal unresolved emotional pain

• Process and release trauma and stress

• Improve emotional well-being

• Enhance self-awareness and self-regulation

• Cultivate resilience and coping skills

**Note: space holding sessions are NOT therapy. My work in this manner may not be a right fit for you and what you are going through. I will provide a list of therapeutic resources to you, should that be the case**

You HAVE to experience it though...

Because we're tapping into the part of your brain that doesn't posses language, logic, or meaning making...this is something you HAVE to experience to "get"

So...why the EYES??

Where We Look Affects How We Feel

After the brain, the EYES are the most complex organ in the body, containing 200 million working parts!

The retina originates as an outgrowth of our developing brain

Eyes develop 2 weeks after conception! Retinas are just a bunch of brain cells not located inside of your head!

Our eyes are our first line of defense

The extraocular muscles can function at 100% at any given moment- making them the perfect tool to detect and respond to threats in our visual field
